Initial plans approved by city officials and the Chamber
of Commerce
Rosemary, Florida
- Global Effect, along with eight partnering organizations
from the U.S. and Canada, plan to meet in Miami, Florida
on Thursday, May 13, 2010 with a delegation of political
and business leaders from Jacmel, Haiti to discuss
initial plans for a first-of-its-kind planned community
development in Haiti.
The initial vision and
plan for the project, known locally as "The Village of
Jacmel," was approved by the General Assembly, the mayor
and Chamber Board of Jacmel last week.
The Village of Jacmel
will be comprised of housing for over 5,000 families, 2
factories that will employ up to 1,500 Jacmel residents,
a school, a medical clinic, a vocational training
center, a recreation center, a marketplace and farming
enterprises. All of this will be developed on a large
single piece of property.
Coalition leaders plan
to begin project planning and coordination efforts.
